FOODIE GOODIE: SANKRANTHI SPECIAL

HI GUYS,

This is my first post since today is a Pongal or what we call Makar Sankranti in India. We celebrate this day as farmer's day and which is dedicated to God's Sun. In this day the day becomes longer and the night shorter. At this festival we often wake up early and start our routine wear new clothes, put rangoli and fly kites is the very joyful play children often love to do. We celebrate this festival for three days. At this festival, we boil the groundnuts, sweet potato, and share all this with our relatives. The most important thing what we share is called Sesame Seeds And Jaggery (Ellu Bella).
So I'll start  the first blog of Foodie Goodie with something sweet
The sweet for the day is PONGAL which is very easy and doesn't take much of your time. And do try this at home and share your opinion.

LET'S GET STARTED

INGREDIENTS as per the quantity
1/4 GRAM  RICE
200 GRAM JAGGERY (smash it) OR SUGAR
3TBS GHEE
2 SPOON RAISINS
2 CASHEW NUTS
1/2 SPOON ELAICHI
ALL THIS AS TO BE ADDED AS PER TASTE

START WITH THE PROCEDURES

STEP 1

At first, rinse the rice and then adjust the water required for the quantity you have taken. You have to cook the rice to be smooth and soft to swallow. Just like the picture shown. And remember to not add salt to it. because we are making Sweet Pongal.

STEP 2

Now let's make use of the crushed jaggery. Add the jaggery into the rice and mix it well until the jaggery melt inside the container and keep stirring it. and take it down.

STEP 3

Now take a small container and in low flame add ghee or as per the quantity of rice taken which is cooked. Let it melt and Raisins, Cashew nuts, and Elaichi. all this shown in the step3 should be taken as per taste.

STEP 4

On the stove at low flame and take the boiled soft and smooth rice and transfer the tempering to it and stir it well. Once it's done then off the flame. That's all the Pongal is ready.

This does not take much time once the rice is cooked, then proceed with the rest steps. THANKS FOR WATCHING. This is my first blog post, hope you like it. Do share and comment. Feel free to give suggestions through comments.
